Stanley Construction Co Inc was founded in 1956 by Wayland "Jack" Stanley. The company was started as a primary contractor for building roads for the Virginia Department of Highways (VDOT). One of the first projects the company had was clearing the right of way for I95 when it was built through Ashland in Hanover County. Throughout his career with the company, Jack and his teammates, along with his son Calvin, built many roads and a variety of site projects.
